Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world. As a result, it is only natural that while many players end up joining the Red Devils, only few are deemed good enough to represent them on a consistent basis.
Their recent transfer policy has involved getting some of the most highly-rated youngsters from all over the globe and putting them in the club’s academy, in hopes that they can eventually become Premier League quality players. One such youngster who moved to Old Trafford in the summer was Facundo Pellistri.
The Uruguayan joined Manchester United from Penarol for a transfer fee believed to be around £10 million. Clearly the club rate his talents but he does not have an appearance to show for it yet. And as reported by Goal, he joined Alaves today, on loan till the end of the season.
If reports are to be believed, then the club had brought him in with intentions of playing him from the get go. As reported by the Mirror, Penarol secretary Evaristo Gonzalez had said following the completion of the transfer:
"“Pellistri goes straight to the first team. Going to play. In the negotiation they asked me if I could guarantee them if he was in the bubble because they need him. Then it will be a matter of the manager if he uses him.”"

The Manchester United youngster will spend the rest of the season on loan at Alaves
Clearly, things did not turn out for Pellistri as he would have hoped. He is still to make his debut for the club and won’t be doing so this season as he has been sent on loan to Alaves to gain some experience.
Things change very quickly in football though and this should not come as a surprise. When Pellistri was signed, the club were going through a rough patch of form and plans might have been to give him a try. Since then, form has drastically improved and they are now challenging for the Premier League title. As a result, it is understandable that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not managed to find the right opportunity to feature the youngster, when every game is important.
This is nothing to be disappointed about though and Pellistri should have a brilliant future ahead of him, if he can prove that he is good enough to playing for Manchester United. A great starting point for that would be to show what he can do while at Alaves.
