With the kind of form that Manchester United are currently in, you would have to think that they are heavy favourites heading into Wednesday’s game against Sheffield United.

The Red Devils are coming off the back of a comeback 3-2 win over Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a late free-kick from Bruno Fernandes securing them the victory on the night. In doing so, they also managed to achieve something that they had not done this season till then and that is win a game over one of the traditional ‘Big Six’ English sides.

Admittedly, Liverpool are not in the best form currently and are now without a win in their last six games. But they are still a quality side nonetheless, possessing some very dangerous players. Thus, the Red Devils will take a lot of confidence from this win.

Perhaps the only negative coming out of this game was the injury that Marcus Rashford appeared to suffer as he was brought off the pitch late on.

Manchester United sweating over Rashford issue

As reported by The Star, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed after the game that it was a knee issue and he was going to undergo a scan to see what the extent of the problem was:

"“His knee was bothering him. So he’ll have a scan and we’ll see where we are.”"

Let’s hope that this does not turn out to be a long-term issue for the Englishman. While Fernandes and Pogba have gotten most of the spotlight recently, he has also contributed some very important goals this season, including the second one against Liverpool last night.

One of the biggest reasons that Manchester United sit where they do at the moment is because they have managed to avoid injuries this season, unlike title rivals Manchester City and Liverpool. And it will be important to do so in the second half of the campaign as well if they are remain at the top of the Premier League table.
