It has come to light that Mason Greenwood was set to be offered a “life-changing” sum of money by one of the biggest clubs in Europe to leave Manchester United.

The Englishman might not be going through the best season possible but that does not change the fact that he is still one of the most highly-rated youngsters in the world. As a result, it is only natural that he will be wanted by other clubs and it appears that he has been for years now.

One of those clubs who had their sights set on Greenwood appear to be Juventus. As reported by the Mirror, the Italian giants were ready to make a huge offer to the youngster to leave Old Trafford back in 2019, a sum of money which has been described as “life-changing”.

While Greenwood was very highly-rated back then as well, he had not established himself as a senior level player. As a result, it is likely that Juventus could have secured his services for a transfer fee that would be considered a bargain today.

Manchester United were quick to shut down any chances of a move though by offering Greenwood a new contract. It is safe to say that the decision has paid off.

The Englishman has grown in leaps and bounds since then, and it would come as no surprise if he does establish himself as one of the best strikers on the planet in a few year’s time. Although still a teenager, he is very much in and around Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team picture right now.

Greenwood scored a remarkable 18 goals last season, a brilliant record for a teenager getting his first taste of regular senior-level football. Things have fallen off a bit this season, with him managing to find the back of the net just thrice in 22 appearances. But the fans will be hoping that this is a minor blip in the road.

He is currently one of the most valuable players in the world and is expected to be the man leading the Manchester United attack in the not too distant future.
