Manchester United have been warned about transfer mistake

Manchester United have been warned that they are making a mistake by not going after the highly-rated teenager.
For quite some time now, Manchester United have been linked with a transfer move for 19-year-old Ecuadorian international, Moises Caicedo. The young South American midfielder looked set to complete a switch to Old Trafford this month but with recent developments, it seems that the Red Devils have pulled out and Brighton and Hove Albion are now leading the race for his signature.
Fabrizio Romano in his recent tweet revealed that United had stepped away from the pursuit of the midfielder. And Brighton and Hove Albion appear to closing in on a bargain £4.5 million move which is much lower than the €10 million that the Red Devils were reportedly asked for the wonderkid, according to Eurosport.
South American football expert Tim Vickery has warned United that they might be making a mistake, as reported by Manchester Evening News:
"“This time last week I was telling you it was going to be Man United, based on what sources in Ecuador were saying.“But if it is Brighton, then United’s loss is Brighton’s gain.“They are getting someone who I think is an absolutely terrific player.“And in 2020, we saw the good formation Moises Caicedo has – stepped into the first team of his club, breeze. Stepped into international football with Ecuador, breeze.“You know, he was up against Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia.”"

The 19-year old midfielder has seemingly expressed his desire to play for one of the big clubs in Europe with even mentioning Manchester United as his favourite club. He admitted to be an admirer of Paul Pogba and is a box-to-box player also capable of playing as a defensive midfielder.
Brighton might not be one of the ‘big clubs’ in Europe at the moment but, it will definitely be a suitable platform for the young prospect to announce his arrival in European football. If he does complete the move, the teenager will likely be loaned out to Union Saint-Galloise, who are currently top of the Belgian second division.
With Pogba looking set to leave in the summer, letting the Ecuadorian midfielder join another side might not have been the best option that United could have opted for. Now, it will be interesting to see how Caicedo does if he does indeed end up joining The Seagulls.
