Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been warned that the Manchester United star will get him sacked if he continues to play him regularly.

Manchester United are flying high at the moment, at least in the Premier League. Winning or even drawing their next game against Burnley will see them go clear at the top of the league table. Things are far from perfect though.

The results are coming at the moment without a shadow of a doubt. But are these the performances you would expect from would-be champions? Most probably not. Yes, it is important to grind out wins when you are not playing well but you cannot rely on that to happen every week.

At this moment of time, the Red Devils are finding ways to win games. But they are still winless against the tradition Big Six. And if there is one thing we have learned this season, it is that things can change very quickly in the Premier League.

Just a month or so ago, Chelsea were looking like Premier League contenders and now they are struggling in the mid-table with Frank Lampard not too many bad results away from getting the sack.

Pundit Simon Jordan has warned Solskjaer that the same could happen with him if he continues to play Anthony Martial. As reported by the Express, he said:

"“Man United fans are piling in on me, saying ‘you’ve got this agenda against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.“It’s not an agenda, it’s calling out excellence and saying ‘can you really subscribe to the fact that anytime soon this guy, and this group of players…’ – because some of those players aren’t fit for purpose, Anthony Martial will get you sacked if you have him regularly in your side because he’s not good enough and he’s lightweight.”"

That is probably a bit too harsh. All players go through a rough patch. But the lack of goals in this team beyond Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, and the occasional Edinson Cavani cameo, could end up being a problem in the long run.

You have to remember, we are not even half way through the Premier League season. Things could go both ways when it comes to Martial. He could turn the season around and rediscover his form. Or, he could continue to toil, and that could be a major worry for Solskjaer.

It looks unlikely that the board will go out and bring in too many players in January. At least not those who will come in and have an immediate impact on the first-team.

Is Martial’s return of 2 goals in 12 games good enough to start for a side trying to challenge for the Premier League? Quite bluntly, no! Let’s just hope that he can find his scoring boots soon. We need it badly.
