Manchester United find themselves in a great position to sign the FC Barcelona star in the upcoming January transfer window.

After their failure to sign Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window, Ousmane Dembele was one name that was floated around as another possible candidate to fill in the void for Manchester United at right wing.

While there has never been a question about the Frenchman’s talent, he has been extremely injury prone since joining FC Barcelona. He has spent more time out injured on the sidelines, than he has done on the pitch.

While it may seem just like yesterday that he was signed by the Catalan club to replace Neymar, in fact, he will be entering the final year of his contract at the end of the season. And thus, the club must take a decision regarding his future soon.

As reported by Spanish outlet Mundo Deprotivo (via The Faithful MUFC), Barcelona might be open to letting him go if they fail to get him to agree to a new contract. And with time against them, it is a great opportunity for Manchester United to pounce and get the Frenchman signed up in January.

Reports had suggested that they had actually come very close to completing a deal done in the last days of the summer transfer window. But ultimately, the Frenchman decided to stay on at Camp Nou.

While questions will be raised if the Red Devils do decide to go after a player as injury prone as Dembele, one must remember that he has produced numbers whenever he has been on the pitch. Even under Ronald Koeman, he scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists in just 6 starts before going down with an injury once.

So if there is an opportunity to get a deal done, at the right price, then it might not be the worst idea to bring the French winger to Old Trafford.
