Solskjaer hints at Manchester United star’s contract extension
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that the Manchester United star could be handed a contract extension after his impressive performances since joining.
One of the biggest characteristics of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side is their youth. And it is a great sign how well these players have managed to deliver despite their comparative lack of experience. This will surely bode well for the future when most of them hit their prime and Manchester United will be one of the best teams in the world once again if they can keep this core together.
Compared to some of them, Edinson Cavani is a senior citizen. And yet, that has not stopped him from coming into Old Trafford and making a huge impact.
The Uruguayan has been one of the most lethal strikers in all of Europe for almost a decade but Paris Saint-Germain decided to let him walk out free when his contract. Their loss was United’s gain as they did not hesitate to bring him in. It is safe to say that the move has paid off.
As a result, there are already talks of him being offered a new contract by the club’s hierarchy. And Solskjaer appeared to hint at the same earlier. As reported by the Express, the manager said:
"“He is still one of the fittest players we have got.“At the moment it looks like he has a few years left in him.“He has made a great influence, a great impact when he has come here. He has a few years left in him.“We have good competition for places but he will probably start more games than he will not start. He is definitely a starter.“You don’t classify a player of that quality as anything else. I trust him and my players.”"

When he signed with the Red Devils, a lot of people had questioned whether it was the right move for the club to bring someone in who was past their prime. Very few of them will still be standing behind that argument though.
Cavani has brought an edge to the attack that is missing at times when Martial is on the pitch. He is incredible option to bring off the bench and has already turned multiple games around since his arrival in England. The Uruguayan appears to have finally shattered the curse that has been following Manchester United’s legendary number 7 shirt since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2009.
As things stand, he has a one year deal with the option of extending it for another. But not many fans will complain if the club manage to get him to put pen on paper on a new deal just a couple of months after his arrival.
