Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the Manchester United star is a major doubt for their upcoming game against the Wolves.

After securing a 6-2 win against Leeds United and defeating Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park to qualify for the semi-finals of the League Cup, Manchester United seemed pretty confident going into the match against Leicester City on Saturday night. But they only managed a 2-2 draw away at King Power Stadium, although it would feel more like a loss to the Red Devils, who gave up the lead on two occasions.

Defensively both the teams made mistakes and to further the misery of United, centre-back Victor Lindelof seemed to have suffered a back injury and was forced to be subbed off for Axel Tuanzebe in the 66th minute of the game. Unfortunately, it was his substitute who ended up scoring an own goal late in the game, although he can hardly be blamed for it.

Solskjaer has admitted on multiple occasions through the course of the season that Lindelof has been struggling with a back injury but this time it might be a bigger problem for United ahead of the Wolves fixture.

According to the club’s official website, Solskajer gave an update on the centre-back’s injury after the Leicester City match:

"“It is his back again I think.“So we will just have to assess that one before Wolverhampton.“Then again, Eric is fit now, Axel is fit, so of course we might have to look at that before Wolverhampton.“We don’t have time to worry about it. This time around, we have around 30 hours to prepare for this game and hopefully the players will use them wisely.”"

The Swedish international recently admitted that he had been playing with pain in his back for quite a while now. And it looks like he might be about to spend some time on the sidelines as a result of it.

Lindelof will most probably be absent for United’s upcoming match against Wolves, but Ole seems to be in no rush to bring him back into the fold. He has quite a few options available to him in the form of Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe. As a result, the absence of the 26-year old centre-back will not be posing much of a threat right now as it would have a just a few weeks ago.

Let’s just hope that the draw does not take away the momentum that they had built up over the past several games. Wolves are always a tough team to face but with the recent results around them, it provides Solskjaer’s side to go clear of the chasing pack and cut down Liverpool’s lead at the top.
