Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is disappointed with the player’s development on loan and is considering calling him back in January.

The policy of English clubs in terms of nurturing their young talents has evolved over the years. Nowadays, an academy graduate, if not an elite prospect, always tends to acquire some first-team football while playing for Championship clubs or certain well-reputed sides across Europe before getting a shot at the first-team. Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are amongst the clubs benefiting heavily while following the aforementioned path.

And the same appeared to be the best possible path for Tahith Chong to carve his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans in the future. Having failed to make an impact last season, he decided to join German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen on a season-long loan deal without an option to buy.

Starting his life with his new teammates in a glittering way during the pre-season, Chong has now found his confidence take a hit and exposed in front of the German media. He has gotten criticized by the local publications for his performances.

As such, in an exclusive report from Germany’s FussballTransfers, it has been suggested that Solskjaer is set to bring Chong back to Manchester in January – well before the culmination of his current deal with Bremen.

As reported by the German outlet, both Manchester United and Werder Bremen ‘expected more’ from the loan deal. Chong, 21, has played just 332 minutes of football (11 appearances) across all competitions, recording just one goal to his name so far. Clearly not what he had in mind when first moving to the club.

Although the story believes that Bremen want to offer Chong more time to find his feet on German soil, Solskjaer is very ‘dissatisfied’ with his development. The Red Devils still rate him very highly and see him as a potentially special player with a long future ahead of him at Old Trafford.
