18-year-old Manchester United target hailed as ‘enormous talent’

Manchester United are planning to land another Brazilian teenager as they continue their search for a long-term right winger.

Manchester United have always been known for bringing through talents from their academy but this time around a Brazilian youngster, currently playing for Palmeiras, has caught their eye.

The Red Devils currently lack a top quality option at right wing, having failed to bring in Jadon Sancho, who would have been able to fill the void. It looks like United are now focused on bringing the 18-year-old sensation to Old Trafford though.

It looks like the club have been scouting the Brazilian youngster, Gabriel Veron, for quite a while now. He is just 18 years of age and plays for Palmeiras. And he is believed to be one of Brazil’s next big hopes.

Veron made his debut for Palmeiras back in 2019 and has scored 10 goals in 29 appearances for them till now, which is a remarkable record considering he is still a teenager. The youngster also made a name for himself in the U-17 World Cup in 2019 where he led his team to victory and also won the Golden Ball award for being named the best player of the tournament.

As reported by Goal, Veron is expected to be the most expensive sale ever made by Palmeiras, even surpassing the transfer fee that they received for Gabrial Jesus.

While speaking with Goal, former Brazilian international Bebeto praised the 18-year old:

"“He’s a kid with enormous talent.“I watched him score a goal dribbling from almost his own half before finding the net with a quality finish, calmly beating the opposition goalkeeper.”"

It seems like the Brazilian has also dreamt of playing for Manchester United and even idolized Cristiano Ronaldo while growing up. But Palmeries do not appear to be willing to let go of the youngster right now.

The club has extended his contract till 2024 with the manager claiming that they won’t let the youngster go for anything less than what Neymar moved to FC Barcelona for. It will now be interesting to see how much the Red Devils are willing to spend for Veron, who has a £60 million release clause in his contract.
