Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the Manchester United star is a major injury doubt when they take on Sheffield United.

Despite the disastrous start to the Premier League campaign, Manchester United find themselves find themselves in a good spot right now. With teams above them dropping points in recent weeks, the Red Devils are primed to break into the top four if they can maintain their recent good league form.

Common sense suggests that they should not have a lot of trouble securing three points from their next game, which is against Sheffield United this Thursday. But unfortunately that is not how football works a lot of the time.

The Blades have endured a terrible start to their campaign. They managed just one point from their first 12 games and look like favourites for relegation at this point of time. Sooner or later, their first win will come though. Let’s just hope it is not against the Red Devils.

Manchester United have their own worries heading into Thursday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that it was almost certain that Edinson Cavani was set to miss the game.

As reported by Goal, the United manager said:

"“Edinson has done well in rehab, but I still have to make the decision if we should risk him. It’s a little bit [dangerous] to risk him too early, so I’d doubt he will be available to pick tomorrow.”"

Since moving to Old Trafford, Edinson Cavani has been impressive whenever he has taken to the pitch. Although he is still not a regular starter for the Red Devils, he has 3 goals and 1 assist in 171 minutes of football.

On the other hand, Anthony Martial looks completely out of form at the moment, missing a number of great chances to score in recent matches. As a result, he might not be long before the Uruguayan becomes the main striker at Old Trafford.

While his absence on Thursday will be a blow, they are still expected to have enough in the tank to see their way past a Sheffield United side that is completely out of form at the moment. The Red Devils have the opportunity to push up the Premier League table. And anything other than the full three points will be a disappointing result for Solskjaer’s men.
