Recent events at Borussia Dortmund might have handed Manchester United a transfer boost in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho.

It is no secret that Jadon Sancho was Manchester United’s top transfer target in the summer transfer window. But the Red Devils were not willing to pay Borussia Dortmund’s mammoth €120 million asking price.  Unfortunately, the German side did not budge either and as a result the move fell apart.

But it looks like there could be another opportunity on the horizon to bring Sancho back to England. The transfer speculation clearly has resulted in his form taking a hit. Normally one of the most lethal players in the Bundesliga, he has not yet found the back of the net in the competition this season.

Dortmund have suffered as a result as well. They are currently sitting at fifth in the table, five points behind leaders Bayern Munich. And they suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat at home at the hands of VfB Stuttgart yesterday.

The club decided to sack manager Lucian Favre today on the back of the result and now Edin Terzic has been appointed as the caretaker manager until the end of the season. And this could easily play into the hands of United.

It appeared that Sancho was interested in leaving Dortmund in the summer in order to complete a switch to Old Trafford. And with the German side struggling, it might be a bit easier for the Red Devils to a get a move over the line in the future than it was in the summer.

It will be interesting to see if United do indeed end up going after Sancho in January. The side got knocked out of the Champions League in the Group Stage itself. Although they have managed to steady the ship in the Premier League, it is still early season. And will the English international still be interested in moving to Old Trafford or wait till the summer to gauge the interest from other clubs?
