If recent reports are to be believed, then Manchester United owner Joel Glazer is planning a massive change at Old Trafford in the near future.

One of the biggest worries about Manchester United in the recent past has been their transfer policy. The club has spent significant amount of money in the transfer market over the last few years but unfortunately, a number of those players have failed to make any impact at Old Trafford.

In that regard, names of players like Alexis Sanchez and Angel Di Maria will stand out. Both came in with huge expectations but it didn’t look like either of them were the right fit for the club. Of course, there are many other such examples of the Red Devils’ transfer failures over the last several years.

This is the biggest reason why the club have failed to maintain their incredibly high standards since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. It is clear that something needs to change if they are to become Premier League contenders once again. And it looks like United are set to make a big change to the structure at Old Trafford very soon.

More from Manchester United News

As reported by the Express, owner Joel Glazer wants the Red Devils to hire a director of football soon. And if that does indeed happen, then naturally Ed Woodward’s influence on the club’s transfer activity is expected to decrease significantly.

The club have never had a director of football but it is about time that they had one. Most top clubs have people in that position these days and the results have been clear to see.

It is worth mentioning though that the club’s recent signings have produced much better results. Bruno Fernandes has clearly been the pick of the lot and turned the direction of the Red Devils since arriving last January.  Aaron Wan-Bissaka has also been a stellar addition who looks set to be the United right-back for years to go.

And with their recent improvement in performances as well, it will be interesting to see whether they decide to indeed go after a director of football in the near future or continue like they have.
