Manchester United have confirmed that two players will definitely miss their UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester United will be hoping to book their place in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League when they welcome Paris Saint-Germain to Old Trafford on Wednesday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be confident of their chances having beaten the French champions 2-1 away at Le Parc des Princes in the reverse fixture.

They will be without two of the best performers from that game in the form of Luke Shaw and Axel Tuanzebe. Both were part of a three-man defence that night and put in impressive displays to keep the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar silent.

Shaw though picked up an injury before the recent international break which is set to keep him on the sidelines for some more time. Tuanzebe on the other hand will be serving a suspension having picked up three yellow cards already.

Manchester United confirmed the news earlier on their official website. On the subject of Shaw, they wrote:

"We’ve known for some weeks that Luke Shaw would miss this game, as a result of the hamstring issue he picked up at Everton last month."

About Tuanzebe, they wrote:

"Axel Tuanzebe was a stand-out performer in the French capital, keeping the dangerous Kylian Mbappe quiet, but he is a confirmed absentee for United as he is serving a one-match suspension for picking up three bookings."

Solskjaer will be happy to have Alex Telles as the back-up to Shaw. The Brazilian has been impressive every time he has appeared for the Red Devils and they have won all those games as well. Thus, many would argue that at this point he might even be ahead of the Englishman in the left-back packing order.

The absence of Tuanzebe will not be as easy to deal with though. It looks like Solskjaer will go back to the duo of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, but the sheer number of injuries at centre-back right now means that the team could be in trouble if either of them is forced off the pitch on the night.

For now though, United should be confident going into the game. They have won four games on the trot since their shock defeat at the hands of Istanbul Basaksehir. And they are coming off the back of a three-goal second-half comeback against Southampton this weekend.

PSG on the other hand have not been in great form lately. As a result, you’d have to argue that Solskjaer’s men are the favourites on Wednesday night.
