Bruno Fernandes shuts down critics after Manchester United win
Bruno Fernandes shut down the recent claims after Manchester United pulled off an incredible comeback in their 3-2 win over Southampton.
Bruno Fernandes has been absolutely incredible since joining Manchester United back in January. The Portuguese international is one of the biggest reasons why the club managed to finished third in the Premier League last season and secure Champions League qualification.
In 36 appearances for the Red Devils, he has scored 22 goals and provided 13 assists. Incredible numbers for an attacking midfielder. And it is not just his individual ability that he has brought to this team, he has also made those around him better. The same cannot be said about summer signing Donny van de Beek though.
The Dutchman has barely featured since arriving at Old Trafford. But after yesterday’s win over Southampton, Fernandes seems adamant that Van de Beek can fit into the same eleven as him.
As reported by the Express, the Portuguese playmaker said:
"“Every midfielder in our team has quality.“Donny has a lot of quality. We know we can play together and also with other players we have the team. Everyone has quality to play and we know each other.“We can play with three today then switch and play the next game with another three or another four.“It doesn’t matter because all of them have quality and we can all be together on the pitch, everyone can make a difference.“Donny today played a really good game but Fred and Nema [Nemanja Matic] were really important to us.”"

It was Van de Beek’s first league start since joining the Red Devils. He had also put in an impressive performance against Istanbul Basaksehir in midweek in the Champions League. And the Dutchman will be hoping that this is the start of a long run in the first-team for him.
Many have argued that it was unnecessary for the Red Devils to sign the midfielder considering how strong that area was already. But if his inclusion in the first team helps them improve then it will not be long before the critics change their tune. To be honest, there has never been a question about his ability just one about his suitability to this side.
At this point of time, a number of players are missing though and it will be interesting to see if Solskjaer still opts to start him when everybody is fit. Also, what does this mean for the future of Paul Pogba? The Frenchman has already spent significant time on the bench this season and could find himself even further down the pecking order now. Things will be a lot clearer over the next few weeks.
