Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has revealed the German club’s stance on a possible target of Manchester United.

Football is a dynamic sport, and the events or talking points circling the game change every day. However, one name that remains under constant limelight is that of Erling Braut Haaland. The 20-year-old striker has just bagged the 2020 Golden Boy Award. And with the overflowing praises, the Norweigan has attracted loads of interest from clubs across Europe. Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund, after a Manchester United move fell through in January.

The Red Devils were reportedly close to securing the deal. The apparent move was looking so likely then that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had a personal jet readied for the arrival of his fellow countryman. Yet, Dortmund managed to outsmart Manchester United in the pursuit of the striker.

The Premier League giants were not ready to meet the demands of Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola and his father but Dortmund paid €10 million to each individual as reported by Marca.

Ever since joining the Bundesliga side, Haaland has been continuously linked with a move to Old Trafford and the former Molde FK striker is currently regarded as one of the hottest properties in Europe. Furthermore, Solskjaer will be keen to unite with his former protégé.

Amidst these reports, Michael Zorc, Dortmund’s sporting director, has written off the possibilities of Haaland moving away from Signal Iduna Park next summer. Speaking to a press conference, as reported by Manchester Evening News, he said:

"“We plan for the long term with Erling. [Rumours] do not have to be dealt with at all. I will see him with us for a long time.“You don’t have to ground him at all. He exudes such a positive dynamic. Why should we slow it down now? He is leading the way, that is very good for us. I do not believe in artificially slowing positive developments.”"

Haaland has amassed 33 goals from 31 matches in Dortmund colours, showcasing his skills to the world as a result. The Norwegian centre-forward has a reported release clause of €75 million, which will believingly get activated in 2022. And there will no lack of suitors for his services when that happens. Hopefully, the Red Devils are at the front of the line then after already missing the chance to sign him at a bargain last time around.
