Manchester United have officially confirmed that they will be missing one of their most promising youngsters in the UEFA Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester United secured a well-deserved 4-1 victory against Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday night at Old Trafford. On the back of a narrow 2-1 defeat to the Turkish side prior to the international break, the Red Devils hosted the UEFA Champions League debutants with a point to prove.

An excellent collective display, led by the heroics of Bruno Fernandes, helped United return to the dressing room with a 3-0 advantage at the break.

The ‘Portuguese Maestro’ racked up a brace. Not only did he score two goals from open play, but he also let Marcus Rashford take the spot-kick won by United’s No. 10 himself. Both couldn’t have shut their critics up in a better manner.

Denis Turuc’s top-notch free-kick led to a  David de Gea blunder. To be honest, the Spaniard probably couldn’t have done any better as the shot was seemingly unstoppable.

That proved to be only a consolation for the visitors though when Daniel James opened up his UEFA Champions League account with a cold-blooded finish from a through ball provided by Mason Greenwood in the dying stages of the game.

One of the very few things that went wrong for the Red Devils in the tie was the booking of Axel Tuanzebe. The referee booked only two United players throughout the ninety minutes, and one of them was the youngster

Owing to that yellow card, Tuanzebe is set to miss the club’s home game against Paris Saint-Germain next Wednesday.

Manchester United launched an official statement, confirming the unavailability of Tuanzebe for the game against the French giants. The statement read:

"“It is Axel’s third yellow card of the European campaign so far, following previous bookings against PSG in France and Basaksehir in Turkey, which earns him a suspension in the competition.“As a result, Tuanzebe cannot face PSG at the Theatre of Dreams next Wednesday and that provides Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a headache, given United require one point to reach the knockout stages.”"

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to give Tuanzebe forty-five minutes under his belt after the hosts had withdrawn Victor Lindelof, who was reportedly carrying a knock.

When United faced the Ligue 1 side last October, Tuanzebe was one of the most notable forces behind holding up the attacking threats of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr. Thus his absence will be a major worry for Solskjaer.

However, as per the recent reports, Eric Bailly, another pacey and physical defender, is set to make a comeback from his injury. And the Ivorian could serve as a replacement for the suspended Tuanzebe.

The Red Devils need only one more point to secure a place in the knock-out stages of the competition from their two remaining matches. And they’ll be hoping that they get it done against PSG itself instead of leaving it till the last matchday.
