Manchester United are reportedly interested in securing a deal for the left-footed centre-back from Borussia Dortmund, according to a recent report.

The name of Borussia Dortmund was atop of every Manchester United fan’s lips for all good and bad reasons over the last summer transfer window.

One of the many prospects that were linked extensively with a move to Old Trafford last summer included Jadon Sancho, once touted to be the next heartthrob of the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.

Having tracked down his signature for months — the Red Devils came the closest to obtaining his services this time. However, Dortmund‘s demand of €120 million meant that the did not ultimately go through and he remained at the German club.

Social media platforms witnessed the wrath of the supporters as a result of both United’s incompetence in ensuring the move in time and Dortumd’s determination to stick to their demands till the very end.

As reports suggest, these two teams might be involved in the talks for an apparent deal once, but for a centre-back this time around. According to an Italian outlet in Calciomercato (via Sports Mole), Manchester United have shown interest in making a move for Dan-Axel Zagadou.

With the France-born defender’s current contract at Borussia Dortmund set to expire in June 2022, it is believed that the German side might hurry to let him go in order to accumulate as much as possible from the sale in the upcoming summer transfer market.

Known for his robustness on the pitch, Zagadou joined Dortmund from Paris Saint-Germain and has since played 60 matches for them across all competitions. Though, he has yet to play a game into the 2020-21 season, owing to the ill-fated knee ligament injury. Nevertheless, many believe he could be a top-class centre-back, currently eyeing for a step-up in his juvenile professional career.

As reported earlier, Manchester United have several names on their transfer shortlist. And Zagadou seems to be one of them.
