Ed Woodward drops hint about Solskjaer’s Manchester United future

Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward appears to have made a decision about Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s future at the club.
Manchester United have failed to perform up to their standards in the Premier League this season and many believe that this has been possibly one of the worst starts that the Red Devils have made in a long time despite a couple of great results in the Champions League.
The Premier League has given United a hard time and a 6-1 defeat against the Spurs raised a lot of question about Solskjaer’s authority over the club. Things looked to be back on track after that for while but a 1-0 loss against a struggling Arsenal brought that mini run of form to an end. As things stand they are sitting at 13th on the table.
Although their performances in the Champions League games against Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig gave United the boost they needed, the hard work was undone after the defeat against the Gunners and was followed up by a 2-1 defeat against Istanbul Basaksehir.
With these results, Solskjaer’s was again accused of not being unable to use his players to the best of their abilities. Claims were made that he preferred players who were his favourites rather than providing chances to those suitable for the job.
Rumours about Mauricio Pochettino being appointed as the next manager also began to surface, but Solskjaer managed to put an stop to them with a much needed 3-1 win against Everton last Saturday.

Recently Ed Woodward made bold claims publicly and appeared to confirm that the board trust the Norwegian to take the club forward. According to the Mirror, Woodward handed a vote of confidence to the Norwegian saying:
"“While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause significant disruption, we are optimistic that the recovery and normalisation phase is gradually coming into view. The club’s resilience and our strong commercial business continue to provide a solid foundation and gives us confidence in our long-term outlook beyond the pandemic, both on and off the pitch.“On the pitch, while there is still hard work ahead to achieve greater consistency, we remain absolutely committed to the positive path we are on under Ole as the team continues to develop.“We miss playing in front of our fans and we are working hard together with our governing bodies and relevant authorities to ensure that fans can safely return as soon as possible.”"
Woodward might have publicly acknowledged the club’s faith in the manager but, if the team does not start improving their performance, things might change very soon. That’s just how things work in modern football.
