According to a report, Manchester United will be looking forward to loaning the star out in the upcoming January transfer window.

One of the main areas that bothered Manchester United profoundly over the last two season was their goalkeeping. Numerous mistakes — some silly, indescribable and childish errors under the posts — induced immense criticism.

And immense criticism meant there was an extra layer of pressure on David de Gea’s shoulders. It just looked like a matter of time before he would be replaced. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had to react swiftly to those unprecedented miseries. He summoned Dean Henderson, who spent his last two seasons on loan at Sheffield United.

The keeper had made a name for himself over the past couple of years and threatened David de Gea, who perhaps had some genuine competition for the starting gloves after years. Henderson straightaway signed a five-year contract with an option for a further year.

His arrival though seems to have revived David de Gea. The extra push from Dean Henderson helped the Spanish number 1 regain his confidence and prime form.

Knowing that Henderson’s arrival could threaten his place in the first XI, De Gea spent his summer vacation training with his former Spain youth-team coach Miguel Angel Espana. They reportedly worked on the basics and put emphasis upon rectifying the mistakes the Spaniard was making through the course of the previous season.

According to a report from ESPN, Manchester United are now pondering upon loaning Henderson out in the upcoming January transfer window, with United’s No. 1 spot looking to be once again within De Gea’s grip.

There is a general understanding that his 23-year-old challenger needs to play football regularly. Instead, he has made just three appearances (one in the Champions League and two in the EFL Cup) so far in the 2020-21 campaign.

Manchester United currently have four goalkeepers within their ranks. Sergio Romero, linked heavily with a move away from Old Trafford last summer, is thought to be at the club until June 2021, when his contract will run out.

On the other hand, England boss Gareth Southgate has already informed that Henderson would have to play more regularly for his club to dethrone Jordan Pickford from England’s No.1 position.

As Henderson aspires to be England’s long-term No.1, it would definitely be interesting to see how the situation pans out in the near future.
