Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has discussed Paul Pogba’s role at Manchester United after he has been left on the bench several times over the past few weeks.

Manchester United are certainly flying high right now. The Red Devils have looked like a side transformed since their disastrous 6-1 defeat at home at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Since then have managed to register dominant wins over Newcastle United and RB Leipzig, caused a massive upset in the Champions League by beating last year’s finalists, Paris Saint-Germain, in their own backyards. And also managed to get a 0-0 draw against Chelsea, meaning they have been unbeaten in a relentless run of fixtures.

A man who has been on the bench for most of these games though is their French talisman Paul Pogba. And with how well the side have worked, could Solskjaer be tempted to turn him into an impact substitute.

If the manager’s comments are to be believed though then they are not. As reported by Mirror, Solskjaer said:

"“Paul can do everything on a football pitch, more or less. He can play long passes, get in the box, play combinations outside the box.“But he played really well, he did impact the game. We love to see him driving forward and affecting the game.“What has been the case after being injured and ill for so long is getting back and the fitter he is the more he can do.”"

Pogba has always been considered as one of the most talented midfielders in all of Europe but it is arguable that he has never quite managed to fulfil those expectations during his time at Manchester United. On his day, he is a top player without a doubt. But those days have rarely come in the Red Devils’ jersey.

Combine that with the fact that rumours have always continued to surround him regarding a possible exit from the club. Even during the recent international break, Pogba spoke of his dream to play for Real Madrid. And with his contract running down, you can understand if Solskjaer was already preparing for life after the Frenchman.

For the time being though, it looks like Pogba is pretty much in his first-team plans and expect to see a lot more of him over the course of the season.
