Paul Pogba drops fresh Manchester United exit hint
Paul Pogba has dropped a fresh hint that he could leave Manchester United in the near future as his contract continues to run down.
It is arguable that Manchester United fans have never got to see the best of Paul Pogba during his time at the club. He has always been regarded as one of the top talents in all of Europe but has not quite managed to reach his potential.
Since returning to Old Trafford in 2016 following a magnificent spell in Juventus, he has scored 33 goals and provided the same number of assists in 161 appearances. And during that period of time, he has only managed to make the PFA Team of the Year only once.
It is undeniable that for most of his time in a Manchester United shirt, it has felt like Pogba would rather be somewhere else. And now, it looks like now we know what place that is.
Like many players of this generation, it looks like the French midfielder grew up idolising the Galacticos of Real Madrid and dreams of putting on their shirt one day.
This current transfer window has been a rare one when it comes to Pogba as there has been very little speculation surrounding his future. But with less than a year left on his contract, although Manchester United have the option of extending it by a year, it looks like the World Cup winner might already be plotting his next move.
As reported by Manchester United Evening News, Pogba said:
"“I am at Manchester. We know that this has been spoken about a lot and I have not [spoken about it]. I heard a lot of noise that I was going to leave and I was going to leave to clubs left and right.“Today, I am still at Manchester United and I am fighting to try to take the club even higher. We have all heard these things that have been said. What to respond? Yes, all footballers would like to play for Real Madrid. Maybe it is a dream. It is a dream for me, why not one day? As I have said, I am at Manchester United and I like my club.”"
A huge worry for United though would be fact that Pogba’s contract is running down. They have the option of extending it to June 2022 but even that would mean that his transfer value would be at a minimum with only one year left at the end of this season.
The best case scenario would be for Pogba to sign a new deal but there seems to be no talk of it at the moment according to the player himself:
"“Nobody has said anything to me. I have not spoken with Ed Woodward.“I have not been spoken to about an extension. For the moment, I am at Manchester United and I am thinking above all to hit my top form.“I think that there will be a moment where the club comes to speak to me and maybe offers me something, or not.“For the moment, nothing has happened. “"
For years, it has felt like Pogba is about to leave the club and yet here he still is. And hopefully, the Frenchman will spring another surprise and sign an extension with the club.
