Manchester United might have lost a jewel.

There was a time when the club’s 13-time Premier League winning gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson used to watch Manchester United academy kids play in the park from the gallery attached to the Carrington training ground.

It was not a manner of passing free time for the Scot but an obsession that helped him, year after year, bring the diamonds out of the coal mine of the renowned Manchester United youth system.

It was as if the emergence of Sir Alex Ferguson was destined to embrace the talented prodigies coming out of the famous academy. And as a result, he got ‘The Class of ’92’ — the team that went on to win everything possible which included a treble in 1998-99 season — becoming the first English team to put their hands on a treble, a feat that has still unmatched by any other English side across the British territory.

And when one thinks about Manchester United’s kids, the team’s current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might be the one to guide the modern batch of graduates to touch the zenith of English and, optimistically, European football.

Under the surveillance of Solskjaer, some have got chances, some have been given hefty game-time, and some have thrived, utilizing their full attributes to justify their selections.

Some, on the other hand, once deemed to be the future of the club, might have lost their path of progression, and hence have parted their ways with the club.

While the names of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Brandon Williams are at the glittering side of things, the likes of Angel Gomes, who joined Lille OSC in France a few weeks ago, and Largie Ramazani are the ones that could have had a bright future ahead of them at the red side of Manchester.

And now, Spanish Segunda División club UD Almeria has signed Ramazani for free, wrapping up the deal after the winger decided to leave United after the expiration of his contract last June.

It was claimed, though, that Ramazani was offered a renewal by United. The wages on the proposed contract were not as satisfying as a player of Ramazani’s ilk would have wanted those to be. And with the 19-year-old sensing that he might not play senior football in the near future, the move to Almeria would provide him with the helping hand he needs to build a blistering career around football.

Touted as one of the next big things in United academy, Ramazani, who recently has signed a contract that will keep him at the Spanish club until 2025, racked up nine goals from 13 appearances in the Premier League 2, making one senior debut as a late substitute in United’s Europa League defeat to Astana last term.

Although it is true that some talented prodigies have decided to move away from the Mancunian club in the recent past, there are more than enough fuel present in United’s academy which is expected to burst out sooner rather than later. And, as of now, there is no significant need to worry regarding the future prospects of Manchester United as the club’s junior department is understood to be in good hands.

Next. United should forget about Sancho. dark

Do you think Ramazani was right to leave Manchester United?
