This Manchester United star could leave for Italy.

As Red Devils resume their Europa League campaign with a quarter-final qualification, the focus still lies on the transfer market, in a bid to close the gap with Premier League rivals. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as developments suggest, could finally attain the services of Jadon Sancho.

Citing the financial complexities in the post-COVID climate, Manchester United, despite being weathering the storm to an extent, need to redirect their revenue stream owing to losses incurred due to lack of stadium viewership since the beginning of Project Restart.

Additionally, the magnitude of funds involved in Jadon Sancho’s transfer from Borussia Dortmund- 120m- means the United hierarchy monitoring options to optimise their summer expenditure. Firstly, there could be no other upscale transactions this window, with focus lying on cheap options available.

Secondly, the board room is open to hearing offers for their superstars deemed surplus to requirements for Solskjaer, thereby generating extra funds to work with during the window- which is crucial from United’s perspective.

In the list of potential areas for recruitment, the central defence is understood to be a priority besides attacking department. But, the acquisition won’t be the only solution to this area- which is filled with players who aren’t up to the standards needed to compete for a starting spot.

There is anticipation around several centre-backs to be sold this window, however, there would be a paucity of potential suitors in the economic status quo. Nonetheless, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, and Phil Jones are in the market, with an eye on another acquisition this summer.

Eric Bailly seems to find his name in the selling list, too, after failing to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer due to recurring injury problems. As per reports from Gazzetta Dello Sport via Sport Witness, Man United, recently, offered the Ivory Coast international to AC Milan.

Unfortunately for Man United hierarchy, the proposition has been rejected by the Italian side, despite them scouring the transfer market for a central defender. Currently, Rosnoneris are focussed on tying down Zlatan Ibrahimovic- Eric Bailly’s former teammate- on a long-term basis.

However, from this story, it could be implied that the Ivorian faces race against time to save his Manchester United career with the club ready to move on towards a new direction.
