Manchester United could have a new recruit.

Oh how the Manchester United fans yearn for him. The longing is like that of a child wanting the most craved toy for Christmas. Jadon Sancho is every supporters deepest desire. To see him in a United shirt would fulfil the wishes of many and bring joy to the Stretford End.

Alas, football is no video game. On simulations, the signing of Jadon Sancho can be accomplished rather simply. However in reality, there are major hurdles and obstacles to overcome, especially now amidst the unfurling uncertainty around the world.

United like every other team in world football will face repercussions as a result and that has undoubtedly tightened Ed Woodward’s transfer budget for this summer.

More from Red Devil Armada

Whereas before the Red Devils could comfortably dish out over £100 million for Jadon Sancho, which in fairness in the current market is not bad deal for someone of his abundant talent, now it seems unlikely the club would be able to fork out such a hefty sum.

United simply cannot afford to be too hasty. However, paradoxically, they must also act fast. Chelsea have already significantly bolstered their squad and with the Blues the Red Devils’ biggest rivals for the top four, Solskjaer will not want to lag behind.

The Norwegian still needs extra reinforcements in order to ensure United are well placed to fulfil their ambitions.

And so the club must look at alternative options to recruit.

Federico Chiesa seems like the perfect choice.

The Italian is quick, agile and he can slalom past defences like Sancho. He has an impeccable eye for goal and is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in his home-country at still just 22 years of age.

Chiesa exudes quality and he would no doubt significantly strengthen the Red Devils.

And according to reports in Italy, Federico Chiesa is edging closer to a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Italian outlet Corriere Fiorentino via the Daily Express has claimed that Federico Chiesa is ‘very close’ to signing for Man United.

If the report is true, it surely puts a major dent in United’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho, however, the arrival of Federico Chiesa could be just as exciting.
