Manchester United are in a transfer battle with their rivals.

On the sidelines his grin is infectious. It transcends to the players on the field. Solskjaer has not been able to conceal his delight. The sun is shining upon Old Trafford. Its myriads of rays are lighting up the turf and sending Manchester United fans brimming with excitement. For the first time in a while, the fanbase can finally say that the Red Devils are well and truly back.

Of course, the optimism comes with caution. United are not without their cracks and Solskjaer’s team is still needs to be polished and honed before the fans’ declaration can become a reality.

The Red Devils have looked sharp in attack, and the potential of the club’s attacking quintet is ample. However, at the back, the Red Devils’ defensive frailties still need to be fixed.

More from Red Devil Armada

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will know first hand, the importance of a stalwart defence. His former boss, Sir Alex Ferguson once declared that ‘attack wins you games, defence wins you titles.’ The adage has rung true for United this season.

While Harry Maguire has been an important addition and has helped to forge a blockade in front of the club’s goal, his valiant efforts have simply not been enough. The England international is lacking an adequate partner who would be able to complement his quality.

And it seems the Red Devils are looking to address this problem by making a move for one of their arch rival’s key targets.

Milan Skrinar has been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad this summer, with Pep Guardiola thought to be a huge admirer of the Inter Milan centre-back.

However according to TuttoSport via Sport Witness, it isn’t just Pep Guardiola who is interested in Milan Skrinar but also Solskjaer.

The report claims the Red Devils have even tabled an offer in the region of €65 million to try to land Milan Skrinar.

The Slovakian international comes with an impressive pedigree and he is regarded as one of the best centre-backs in world-football at the moment. That means Milan Skrinar would be a more than adequate partner for Harry Maguire.

If the Red Devils manage to beat Man City in the race to sign him that would simply be the icing on the cake.

Next. Man United could sign these four forwards in the summer. dark
