The Manchester United boss could not make things more obvious.

Sometimes there are moments which you wish were not captured. Lapses or hidden messages on the football pitch which give far too much away. Football is often enshrouded in secrecy. Especially when it comes to the transfer window. Manchester United have not been too mysterious about their dealings in recent years but the recent lapse by the club’s boss seems like the biggest give away to date.

As the Red Devils’ encounter with Bournemouth concluded, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemed to give away a major transfer hint when he approached Nathan Ake and patted him on the back while whispering in his ear that ‘we need a left footed centre-back.’ The moment was spotted by a eagle eyed Twitter users via the Metro and has sent the Red Devils supporters into a frenzy.

Nathan Ake has been an accomplished defender in the Premier League. Still relatively young at 25 years of age, the Dutch defender has developed a reputation for always being a stalwart figure on the pitch.

Mobile and astute on the ball, he would fit perfectly into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s explosive attacking style which necessitates the need for ball-playing centre-backs who are able to play the ball out of defence.

Having honed his career at Chelsea where he was often compared his compatriot Ruud Gullit, Nathan Ake has since go onto have successful spells in the Premier League with Watford and Bournemouth.

However, with Bournemouth’s future currently uncertain in the Premier League it is not unfeasible that Ake will be on the move if the club is relegated this summer.

A move to United would make sense. Nathan Ake would be available for a relatively cheap fee and the Red Devils are indeed in need of a centre-back with the likes of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof yet to establish themselves as reliable figures at the back.

Ake seems like an astute option for the Red Devils. He fits right into the mould of what Solskjaer is looking for and has been a reliable figure. The Bournemouth defender is also capable of playing as a full-back or a defensive-midfielder and that versatility would certainly be helpful.
