Manchester United are set for an exciting summer.

His relationship with the Manchester United fans has been perpetually strenuous ever since his arrival at Old Trafford. Fans are often quick to express their disdain towards the current United chief.

Ed Woodward has not been helped by the fact that he has not been able to attract the right calibre of players to the club. Alexis Sanchez and Angel Di Maria may have been exciting additions on paper, players who had the potential to fill the void left behind by Cristiano Ronaldo, however the pair of them turned out to be major flops.

Ed Woodward has developed a reputation for over-spending transfer fees and wages on player who ultimately do not warrant such extortionate fees. The United chief has become an infamous figure at the club, but he will be desperate to overturn his reputation.

Already with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the helm, things seem to changing for the better. The Norwegian has managed to implement the traditions of old at the club with the youth blossoming and recruiting players with the right mentality such as Harry Maguire or Bruno Fernandes.

Ed Woodward can take credit in the club’s impressive performance in the January transfer window. Despite not being able to lure Erling Braut Haaland, he did sign Fernandes and made an astute addition in Odion Ighalo who has become an invaluable back-up.

Now, Woodward will be hoping to build on that successful window in the summer.

It is clear the Red Devils’ chief has been keen to land Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. However according to the Manchester Evening News via the Daily Express, Ed Woodward will not only have his eyes set on the England international but he will also be looking to recruit a midfielder this summer.

United’s midfield has thrived in recent weeks, however, in the absence of Pogba or Fernandes, Solskjaer saw his side struggle earlier this season which means he still needs another creative back-up of similar ilk to the aforementioned midfield maestros.

The Daily Express cites, Jack Grealish as the potential midfield addition and it would certainly make sense.

Jack Grealish has been on exceptional form for a struggling Aston Villa side and without his contributions it is likely the Birmingham based outfit would already be looking at the prospect of Championship football next season.

Like Fernandes, Jack Grealish has the creative outlet which could help supply the likes of Martial, Greenwood and Rashford in the Red Devils’ front three.
