The coronavirus has now made a widespread impact in Europe and the situation has reached a critical point, here’s how it will impact Manchester United.

It is everywhere on the news and it is on everyones mind. COVID-19, otherwise know as the coronavirus, has spread to most parts of mainland Europe as well as the United Kingdom. At this highly tense time, inevitably Manchester United are going to be impacted by the change of circumstances.

The coronavirus is a new and unknown virus which has rightly made everyone around the world concerned about their own welfare and the welfare of their loved ones.

At times like this football certainly becomes less significant. First and foremost the safety of our fellow human beings becomes the paramount priority.

More from Red Devil Armada

With leagues in Italy and Spain already being postponed, United fans are undoubtedly curious as to what is expected to happen in the Premier League.

The Red Devils’ game in Europe against LASK on Thursday night is being played behind closed doors.

And it seems the same could be the case for the remainder of the Premier League season.

According to a report by The Times, all games in the football league will be moved behind closed doors starting immediately.

There will be live-streams available however for ticket holding fans.

More crucially The Times, claims that the current season ‘will not be postponed.’

The news is certainly not unprecedented but further complications could also arise.

For example Arsenal’s game against Manchester City was cancelled due to the Gunners’ players having to go into self-isolation after they came into contact with the Olympiakos owner who has  contracted coronavirus.

If a Manchester United player or staff contracts the virus things could change. According to current protocols it could mean that even a large portion of the squad could be forced into have to go into self-isolation.

That would not be an ideal scenario and it could see a lot more games being postponed.

Uncertainty in Europe is also an issue, with the game between AS Roma and Sevilla called off due to the Roma team unable to travel to Spain due to a ‘lack of authorisation from the local authorities.’

UEFA’s plan for the coronavirus remains unknown.
