Manchester United’s star player and wantaway, Paul Pogba, has made a surprising declaration about the current Premier League season.

Paul Pogba has been a controversial figure of late. The Manchester United midfielder has been at the centre of a media storm. Rumours are rife about the Frenchman who has purportedly set his heart on a departure away from Old Trafford after coming extremely close to leaving the club last summer.

The Red Devils’ star man has been absent for the large part of the season and he has left a gaping void in the United midfield which has left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side struggling to maintain consistency.

Unfortunately, things are not expected to change between Paul Pogba and Manchester United.

According to the latest reports, relations have broken down to the extent that some sites have speculated about Paul Pogba never playing for the club again, which would come as a major blow for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side who are desperate to make the top four.

And whilst on the football field Paul Pogba has not left much of a mark this season, he has been full of headlines in the media.

The Frenchman’s latest reveal however could be the most surprising one to date.

Paul Pogba spoke to ESPN about the current Premier League season and revealed his admiration for Liverpool. The French midfielder said the following:

"‘As a Manchester United player and with the rivalry between us, we don’t want them (Liverpool) to win the title — but as a football lover and a respectful player to (the) opposition team, I have to say that they deserve to be where they are today.”"

Paul Pogba’s latest comments will surely do nothing to improve relations at Old Trafford. Whilst his remark is undeniably true, it is rare that a United player praises their arch rival in such a fanatical way and something frowned upon at Old Trafford.

Pogba’s latest comments could be more proof that the Red Devils’ midfielder has no vestige of respect left for his current employers.
