Guardiola set to prevent Manchester United signing world class target

Manchester United could be thwarted in their attempts to sign the world class star in the future by their arch rivals Manchester City.

It was written in the stars. Every alignment seemed to indicate towards its direction. It was meant to be a fairy tale in the making. The prodigal son who returns to his former mentor to help save him from crisis. The story seemed too good to be true. And in the case of Erling Braut Haaland’s move to Manchester United it unfortunately was.

Despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being the man gave a first professional debut to Erling Haaland at their boyhood club Molde when the striker was just 16 years of age, Haaland opted to turn down the Red Devils.

It was a move which has paid dividends so far for the young Norwegian striker. Since the start of 2020 Erling Haaland has managed to out score Manchester United in the league. Perhaps no striker in history has had such a strong start at their new club as Erling Haaland at Borussia Dortmund.

More from Red Devil Armada

Haaland has already scored eight goals in five games for his new club and looks to have established himself as one of the best strikers in the world.

Yet despite this according to reports United have not given up their pursuit of the Norwegian. Solskjaer still wants his compatriot to join the Red Devils in the future.

Unfortunately however the club might still be thwarted in their attempts to bring Erling Haaland to Old Trafford by none other than Pep Guardiola. According to Spanish outlet Don Ballon via Caught Offside, Guardiola wants to ‘replace’ Sergio Aguero with Erling Haaland at Manchester City and could make a move for him in the future.

That will mean the two arch rivals will battle it out for the exciting striker. But with Erling Haaland’s father having played for Manchester City in the past and the blue side of Manchester being in a much more favourable position at the moment, Haaland might just favour a move linking up with Pep Guardiola over his former mentor.
