Manchester United have targeted the extremely experienced defender and he is rumoured to be hopeful of a move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United seem to be constantly on the forefront of transfer rumours. It is no surprise why. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on a mission to rebuild the Red Devils’ squad and he is in desperate need of reinforcements.

The Norwegian wants to take the club back to where they belong, competing against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City and for that he needs to bolster his current squad.

At the moment the Red Devils are struggling. They have suffered some embarrassing results especially since the start of January with losses to arch rivals Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool as well as a shock defeat to Burnley at Old Trafford.

It has left the Red Devils sitting in 8th place in the Premier League, a mighty six points behind Chelsea for their coveted top four spot with only 13 games left to play. It means United will have to rely on other teams dropping points if they are to play in the Champions League next year.

That is not the ideal situation for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side.

Much of the club’s misfortunes have been down to their lack of unity in defence. Despite the additions of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire the club have struggled to defend against teams and keep clean sheets.

Both Wan-Bissaka and Maguire have yet to completely settle into the team and a question mark remains over their ability. Especially in the case of Wan-Bissaka who at a tender age is still unproven at the highest level.

Perhaps it is no surprise that according to Le Parisien via Get Football News France Manchester United are interested in Paris Saint Germain defender Thomas Meunier who was ‘hopeful’ of a move to Old Trafford in January as he has been a fan of United ‘since he was a boy.’

With Meunier seemingly keen on the move, it could mean the Red Devils might still return for his services in the summer if Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s poor form continues to persist.
