Manchester United finally identify perfect Maddison alternative

After Manchester United appear to have lost out on the signing of James Maddison from Leicester they have lined-up an alternative solution.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has embarked on a lofty mission at Old Trafford. The Norwegian is desperate to get his beloved Manchester United back to where they belong. It is a task which seems gargantuan at the moment. The Red Devils trail their arch rivals Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table by a whopping 38 points.

Solskjaer knows that sort of position is unacceptable for the club. The Red Devils need to be competing at the highest levels year and year out and they have fallen mightily short of that target this year.

The only hope for the club to return back to the Champions League remains the slim chance of Chelsea and Tottenham both slipping up or an incredible Europa League victory.

Either would take a significant amount of fortune and unprecedented form to accomplish.

Right now that seems unlikely.

It is why the club must already prepare themselves for the following season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to revamp the squad. He has snipped away some of the deadwood but not entirely and he also needs to add more reinforcements than he already has done thus far during his United reign.

One area where the Red Devils need to strengthen is midfield. Even with the addition of Bruno Fernandes the club are lacking in that department.

The perfect target for the Red Devils would have been James Maddison however it seems like the English international will now sign a new contract at Leicester City.

Which means the Red Devils have been forced to look elsewhere. According to the Daily Mirror via the Metro Manchester United will now focus their attention on the Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

Grealish has been extremely impressive in the Premier League and he has similar stats to Maddison. He could establish himself as a great player at Old Trafford.
