Manchester United should not be looking at bringing back Carlos Tevez to the club, instead they should bring back this former star to replace Rashford.

In the boardroom at Old Trafford the club’s officials, Ed Woodward and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are scratching their heads. They are desperately trying to come up with solutions to ease the pressure off the Manchester United squad following the long term injury suffered by Marcus Rashford.

The United academy graduate has had a stellar season. Marcus Rashford has been the Red Devils’ best performer. His pace, lethal finishing and incredible tricks have been the rare spark in a Manchester United squad often devoid of any imagination or skill.

However since not all good things last for ever, it seems the Red Devils will have to make do with their star player until possibly even the end of the season.

That is grave news for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is already fighting for his job. And grave news for Ed Woodward as it necessitates him actually trying to complete a signing in the January transfer window.

It is why the Old Trafford board are scratching their heads. After all, the January transfer window is notorious for clubs hard-balling and a volatile market. Teams are reluctant to let their best players go mid-season therefore often clubs have to pick from the bottom of the barrel or unwanted scraps.

Perhaps hence the recent emergence of the club trying to sign veteran players. First it was Fernando Llorente rumoured with a loan move to Old Trafford and now there has been speculation about the return of the infamous Carlos Tevez.

Yet the Red Devils should forget both. Lloretne and Tevez are nowhere near good enough or possess the pace to replace Marcus Rashford and to suit Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s expansive style of play.

Instead the club should be looking at bringing back another former player, Danny Welbeck. Yes he has been on the fringes since making the move to Watford. Yes he is injury prone but nonetheless he is a proven goalscorer and a far better option than either of the two being linked with the Red Devils.

It is worth a punt especially considering the club’s dire situation at the moment.
