Manchester United: Solskjaer close to finally completing first signing

The Manchester United boss is edging closer and closer to finally landing his primary January transfer target and the deal could be completed soon.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on an enthralling mission to get Manchester United back to where they belong. The club has been on an endless downward spiral and the trajectory is set to continue if the Red Devils’ boss does not make some rapid changes to the way the club is run.

At the moment United are in turmoil. On the pitch results haven’t been good enough or worthy of the Red Devils’ crest. In the boardroom and off the pitch things have been even more wayward. The club’s board are inept in dealing with crisis. Their negotiations strategies have been poor.

United have missed out on some key targets and perhaps overpaid for other signings. The lack of consistency has been a major issue as well as the lack of clarity and direction which the board seems to be working with.

Earlier in the January transfer window the club missed out on the signing of Erling Haaland, even though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemed to have the leverage having worked with the player before. In fact Solskjaer was the man who gave Haaland his first start in the game and professional debut. Yet the deal never materialised with Haaland opting to sign for Dortmund instead.

And now it seemed that the Red Devils coveted pursuit of Bruno Fernandes had also gone awry. With the two sides unable to agree on the price of the Portuguese playmaker a deal looked hopeless.

However it seems United may have been given a lifeline. According to A Bola via the Daily Mirror Manchester United have had a ‘breakthrough’ in a ‘new round of negotiations.’ Which means that United’s pursuit of Bruno Fernandes is very much back on.

The Portuguese can still come to Old Trafford in January in what would be the perfect move for a Red Devils midfield which has lacked a creative spark.
