Manchester United: Huge twist in Bruno Fernandes deal

It seems there has been a huge twist in Manchester United’s pursuit of their main January transfer target, Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took a deep breath and the final whistle blew at Anfield, he grimaced. At home the next morning inside the Manchester United headquarters that grimace resurfaced yet again.

The Red Devils are in a desperate fight to get back to where they belong. Yet it seems that no matter how much Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tries to get the team firing again, it is to no avail. Manchester United gave a spirited fight against Liverpool, you could say they almost played well, but none of it mattered in the end. The club still fell to a defeat.

It’s happened time and time again. One defeat after another and one positive result followed by negative setbacks. The Norwegian’s tenure at the club has been tumultuous and therefore his grimace at the end of the game against Liverpool was more than justified.

Just like his likely grimace inside the Manchester United board when he was given the latest debriefing about the Red Devils’ transfer exploits.

Similarly off the pitch the club have been in a state of turmoil and they have struggled to acquire the right signings.

And it seems they have come up against a huge stumbling block in their most recent pursuit of the Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

According to the BBC, Manchester United are unwilling to pay the ’80m Euro asking price’ the Portuguese club are demanding for their player.

With the clubs’ unable to agree a fee and Sporting being obdurate about their asking price it seems unlikely that United will be able to complete the deal unless they change their stance on the amount of money they are willing to put down on the table.

Bruno Fernandes has been one of the most prolific midfielders in Europe’s major leagues and his addition is a necessity at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping his board swallow their pride and give in to Sporting’s demands so that the Norwegian can finally overturn his fortunes.
