Manchester United have been given a major boost in their bid to sign a former World Cup winner and current German superstar.

Old Trafford stands in the shadows of the club’s arch rivals. While the Theatre of Dreams has begun to rust and turn dilapidated, on the other side of Manchester, the Etihad is glittering in an abundance of light. Manchester United are on a rapid decline and whilst there is no question as to which fans make the most noise inside the two stadiums, it is clear the Red Devils have lingered in the shadows of Manchester City for far too long. Something needs to change fast.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate overturn the club’s fortunes. As a player he worked closely with Sir Alex Ferguson and the Norwegian is hoping to pull all the tricks of his former master during his tenure at Old Trafford.

Much of what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has implemented at Manchester United so far has been the resurgence of youth talent coming through the ranks. This has included the likes of Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams and Scott McTominay breaking through to the first team.

While this has been a breath of fresh air. One cannot put all it’s faith in youth. Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United sides are great examples of exactly just that. The club’s former legendary boss always included a fine blend of experience and exciting youth talent in his teams.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is yet to find that blend. He hasn’t been helped that the experience at the club isn’t really good enough to provide the necessary assurance to lift the youth players. In addition they also lack in quality.

However that might soon change as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been given a huge boost to sign a truly world class and highly experienced player.

Thomas Muller was linked with a move to Manchester United earlier this season via the German outlet Sport Bild and the German World Cup winner has just given the Red Devils a boost in their pursuit. Thomas Muller told Sport1 via the Daily Mirror in an interview that he will ‘consider his options’ at the end of the season.

That might mean Thomas Muller is ready to make a change and at Manchester United he could find a home that will welcome him with open arms.

Thomas Muller is the perfect blend of experience and quality. He already has 11 assists in the Bundesliga this season which means he is still at his prime despite turning 30 years old.
