Manchester United set to use Paul Pogba to sign Barcelona target

Manchester United are expected to offer up their star player, Paul Pogba, in order to land the highly coveted Barcelona target from the Catalans’ grasp.

Sleeping giants. It is the two words which best describes the current status of both Manchester United and Barcelona. The two clubs are in a state of transition and have fallen down from Europe’s elite over the last few years.

Of course Manchester United’s fall has been more severe and prominent, but Barcelona have struggled to recapture their greatness too.

The Red Devils meanwhile have been on such a steep decline they are struggling to claw their way back to the Champions League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to ensure he returns the club to where they belong and has done an amicable job during his tenure at Old Trafford so far.

The Norwegian manager is doing the best he can and he has rekindled some of the passion and the core Manchester United ethos in his current side by bringing through youth players. However the Red Devils still trail the coveted fourth spot in the Premier League by five points.

Things in the dressing room haven’t helped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s situation. The club’s star player, Paul Pogba is rumoured to be discontent with life at Old Trafford and itching for a change of landscape.

It is clear Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to change something. With Inter Milan one of the teams interested in Paul Pogba’s services it seems the Manchester United boss has found the perfect solution.

According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United have ‘demanded’ Inter Milan for Barcelona target Lautaro Martinez in exchange for Paul Pogba.

Lautaro Martinez has been one of the best forwards in Europe’s top five leagues this season and the Catalans have long identified him as a potential replacement for Luis Suarez.

However with United’s interest the Red Devils could swoop in and sign the Argentinian instead. Especially since they have the advantage over Barcelona in that in Paul Pogba they have a player Inter Milan desperately want to sign.

What do you think should Manchester United sign Lautaro Martinez?
