Manchester United: Five players who could replace Paul Pogba

4. Emre Can
It has been a massive fall from grace for Emre Can over the last couple of years. After leading Liverpool to the Champions League final in 2018, he moved to Juventus upon the expiry of his contract. The Turin side seemed to have accomplished quite a coup poaching Emre Can from Liverpool as the German international was without a shadow of a doubt one of the club’s best midfielders and very much admired by Jurgen Klopp.
Can was also a key member of Joachim Low’s Germany squad and featured extensively during Germany’s disappointing World Cup run.
Yet at Juventus Emre Can never quite seemed to settle. The German international struggled to fight himself into the reckoning and he was clearly down in the pecking order. He fell even further down this season when Juventus made yet more additions to their midfield. Emre Can fell to the extent that he wasn’t even included in the Italian side’s Champions League squad for the group stages this season.
That has alerted the attention of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United. With Paul Pogba set to leave the club Emre Can could be the ideal Paul Pogba replacement at Old Trafford. The German international has the stature, the stamina and the ability to make long darting runs forward. He has proven his quality for Germany and Liverpool in the past and United might be able to sign him up on the cheap as he is clearly unwanted at Juventus.
Can could be a major coup and the fact that he is already familiar with the Premier League is a huge bonus.
