Manchester United: Huge twist in Paul Pogba saga

The Manchester United midfielder is constantly being linked with a move in the January transfer window and it seems there’s been a huge twist in his saga.

The French World Cup winner arrived at Old Trafford in 2016 with so much hope. His return to the club where it had all started for the young midfielder was supposed to herald a new dawn at Manchester United. It was the beginning of a new era at the club. The Paul Pogba era. One which would be synonymous with success just like the Ronaldo, Rooney, Beckham and Cantona eras of the club’s illustrious past.

Paul Pogba was after all developed in the club’s academy from the age of 16. He had been taught the Manchester United way and he was destined for great success with the red devils. At the time the French midfielder was regarded as one of the brightest prospects in the entire world. He could have chosen Barcelona or Real Madrid as his next destination but he chose United.

Everyone predicted major success. Pundits expected Manchester United and Paul Pogba to be imminently swimming in trophies.

Yet whilst Paul Pogba has had his moments since his return at Old Trafford the transfer has not merited the hype which it was anticipated with. Paul Pogba has hardly conjured a new era at the club and Manchester United have remained ebbing in mediocrity.

For a long time now it has seemed that the World Cup winner’s time at United was once more on the brink of coming to an end. with Real Madrid heavily pursuing the midfielder.

Yet in a shocking twist it now seems that Paul Pogba may actually stay at the club after all. According to his agent via the Telegraph Paul Pogba ‘wants to stay’ at Manchester United and the Frenchman is committed to the club.

After months of speculation such a declaration from Pogba’s agent comes as a major surprise though if the World Cup winner is indeed still committed to Manchester United it will be hugely reassuring to hear for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who can now plan for a future with Paul Pogba in his plans.

It is clear Pogba still has a lot to prove at United and he can still turn his career around at Old Trafford.
