Players’ Player & Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year
Rewind a year last March and reports were surfacing of more harsh treatment from Jose Mourinho towards Luke Shaw, with reports suggesting the Portuguese-man was bullying him.
It seemed as though Shaw’s career at Manchester United was over and there was no way back. However, in the summer the former-Saints man rolled up his sleeves and got to work and since then, there has been no looking back.
The 2018/19 campaign has definitely been Shaw’s best at United since his £33 million pound move in 2014. The stats back it up too, with Shaw playing double the amount of games for the club in all competitions this season than any other.
He has also been more productive at the top end of the pitch, scoring his first United goal and registering five assists, meaning the left-back has been involved in more goals this campaign than any of his other four put together.
Luke is a deserving champion of both trophies. Not just for his consistent performances week after week, but his mental toughness to pull through those dark days in order to reap the rewards he is now receiving.
