SUGGESTED STARTING XIs: Manchester United host Brighton at Old Trafford

Manchester United take on Brighton & Hove Albion today as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to make it seven wins from seven as interim manager. After the impressive victory of Spurs last week, would our expert writers make any changes to the starting XI?

Ali Akbar

A home fixture against a lesser side is the perfect time to give Dalot some game time at right-back. Shaw hasn’t been performing recently, so Young should move into his left-back spot to provide a better attacking outlet on that side.

This midfield three has been working perfectly so far, so there’s no point in changing things around. But if we go 3-0 or even 4-0 up against Brighton, Fred should be brought off the bench for Herrera.

Although Rashford has impressed at centre-forward, it’s hard to justify leaving a £75 million striker on the bench yet again, so he should be moved to the right wing so that Lukaku can return to the starting XI.

I agree with Ali, today is the perfect opportunity to provide Dalot with another start, he can get forward and really impose himself on Brighton at the top end of the pitch. Other than that, I wouldn’t make any changes to the side that defeated Spurs.

The midfield three have been superb since Solskjaer’s arrival so Matic, Herrera and Pogba all keep their places but perhaps others such as Fred and Juan Mata should be provided with opportunities should United have a comfortable lead.

Likewise, up front, United’s forward line is looking the most dangerous for years. Rashford, Lingard and Martial all have pace, skill and composure in different areas. They caused one of the best defences in the Premier League loads of problems last week and can hopefully do the same today.

Next. 3 things learned from Manchester United's win against Spurs that they should look to take into the match vs Brighton today!. dark

I disagree with Ali. I don’t think you should change a winning side, especially a winning side that is playing so well. Rashford has to continue as the number nine irrespective of how much Lukaku cost. The Wythenshawe-wonder is in great form and should be backed in that position from now until the end of the season.
