There have been many headlines about Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford’s form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United. But why has nobody been talking about Ander Herrera?

Scores as high as TEN for Manchester United after mature away win against Tottenham Hotspur. light. PLAYER RATINGS

The Red Devils have beaten Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town, Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Reading and now the mighty Tottenham Hotspur on their own turf.

Throughout these victories, many articles have been published praising the performances of star players such as Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford – and rightly so.

The French midfielder has scored four goals and registered as many assists in the Premier League so far under Solskjaer, and the English forward has gotten four goals and one assist in the same period.

However, fans and the press have largely ignored the player who has arguably been our best performer under Solskjaer over the same period – Ander Herrera.

Indeed, although Herrera doesn’t have nearly as many goals and assists as either Pogba or Rashford, he has nonetheless been crucial in keeping our winning streak going.

Playing in a midfield three alongside Pogba and Nemanja Matic, Herrera has been working hard to cover for the former when he bursts forward to grab a goal, closing the space behind him.

The Spaniard has also been a very creative player himself, passing it forward every time he wins the ball back – something we never saw under Mourinho and Louis van Gaal before him.

The 29-year-old has also provided exceptional cover for the back four, ensuring that Manchester United have not conceded a single goal from open play under Solskjaer!

Herrera has done all this while also grabbing a goal and two assists himself, showing that he has been the best all-round player for Manchester United during our unbeaten run.

And long may it continue.
