Reports suggest that Mason Greenwood will not even be on the bench when Manchester United face Valencia in the Champions League. Jose Mourinho can’t keep doing this to young players!

When it was revealed that Mason Greenwood had travelled with the Manchester United squad to face Valencia in the Champions League, I was ecstatic.

Greenwood has been phenomenal for the Under-18s this season, having scored a whopping 11 goals so far for his side in their Premier League U18s campaign.

PREVIEW. Valencia vs Manchester United – will Jose Mourinho rest key players and give youth a chance?. light

Since the Red Devils have already qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League after beating Young Boys 1-0 at Old Trafford last month, the game against Valencia would be a perfect opportunity to rest key players and hand the youngster his first-team debut.

However, Jose Mourinho recently confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Greenwood will not even be on the bench! He’s just in the squad in case one of the senior players gets injured during the warm-up.

Why, Mourinho? Why…

Why does the manager always get our hopes up just to let us all down?

Mason Greenwood is a huge talent, and since we literally have nothing to play for against Valencia, why not give the youngster a few minutes in the first team to help him develop further?

Mourinho is a manager notorious for rarely playing youth. Although he has somewhat bettered this image at Manchester United, having handed debuts to the likes of Angel Gomes and Scott McTominay, he has yet to fully embrace the United Way.

Hopefully, the Portuguese changes his mind before it’s not too late. We do have a big game against Liverpool on the weekend after all, and Mourinho might decide to rest players such as Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

However, if Mourinho does end up leaving Greenwood out the squad tonight, you can add it to the long list of poor decisions he has made at the club…
