Manchester City vs Manchester United preview – will the comeback kings strike again at the Etihad?

Derby day is approaching in Manchester with each side heading into Sunday in good form. Can Jose Mourinho’s players repeat the performance from the thrilling 3-2 comeback at the Etihad Stadium last season? Or will have Pep Guardiola’s side have learnt from their mistakes?
I’m usually pretty anxious when Manchester United are preparing to play cross-city rivals Manchester City even at the best of times.
So you’d think that this time around, with us being in 7th place and them being in 1st place in the Premier League table, I’d be a nervous wreck right about now. And yet, I’m actually feeling pretty confident.
I might sound crazy, but hear me out. Yes, this City side is one of the very best in Europe at the moment. And yes, United are currently having one of their worst starts to a season in years. But Jose Mourinho’s men have been turning things around recently and have just come off the back of a historic away win against Juventus in the Champions League.
In the same fixture against City last season, we were also the underdogs going into the derby. We were even 2-0 down at halftime, but we didn’t give up, and came back to win 3-2 in spectacular fashion.
We continue to be the comeback kings this season – as our games against Newcastle United, Bournemouth and now Juventus have shown – meaning you should never right the Red Devils off.
Nevertheless, playing Manchester City is never easy. Here are a few things Jose Mourinho and his players must consider if they want to leave the Etihad with three points on Sunday…
