Jose Mourinho must set the team up to win

Although the players are certainly to blame if they don’t give 100 per cent on the pitch, the manager is ultimately the one who shoulders the responsibility after a defeat.

Last time round, Mourinho’s side did not show enough attacking intent. Yes, the players should have done more, but the Portuguese must also ensure his players understand the attacking patterns he wants them to make.

Watching United’s performances recently, it feels like we have no plan when we have the ball other than to give it to Paul Pogba so that he can lump it up to one of the forwards. It didn’t work against Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci last time, so why would it work this time round?

The Red Devils are in need of a major tactical reshuffle. We need to play to our forwards strengths and ensure that we get the ball to their feet as often as possible. Please, Jose – don’t make us sit through another snoozefest on Wednesday…
