Lacklustre players will have to make amends

Although we conceded a goal last time round, defending wasn’t really an issue. Ashley Young, Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw performed well overall, and although Paulo Dybala’s goal was avoidable, it was our lack of attacking intent which doomed us.

If Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford had given it their all, we could’ve won 2 or even 3-1. Instead, all we got were slow, uninspired performances from United’s forwards, which ultimately cost us the game.

Said players will have to do much better on Wednesday by playing for the badge this time and working together to create chances constantly throughout the game. Although Lukaku was perhaps the worst of the bunch, he is currently injured and is unlikely to feature against Juve.

It is therefore up to the other three to make up for that abysmal attacking performance last month – especially Rashford, since he has just come off the back of scoring the winner against Bournemouth on the weekend. The England international will be looking to continue his goal scoring form – and a goal away against the mighty Juve would seriously reinvigorate his United career.
