Attack

Alexis Sanchez – 7

Although he did not get on the scoresheet, Sanchez’s determination to hold up the ball, play a one-two with Young before cutting back for Martial was arguably the best play from a player from either side the whole game. Hopefully, the Chilean will add more goals to his game, but for now, there wasn’t much wrong with his performance on Saturday.

Anthony Martial – 8

The French forward is experiencing the best form of his career right now. Five goals in four league games is an astonishing number no matter who you’re talking about. Martial’s goal against the Cherries was well-taken, and he did a great job throughout the game by keeping the opposition’s defence busy with his constant running and tricky dribbling. I think I speak for all United fans when I say that he deserves to start every week from now on.

Juan Mata – 6

Mata was important in ensuring that United were able to transition the ball from midfield to attack in key moments of the game. However, he needs to start contributing more directly by assisting his teammates or by getting on the scoresheet himself. Some nice touches here and there is not enough to ensure that he stays in the starting XI.
