Nemanja Matic has been in terrible form recently and many Manchester United fans, including myself have been calling for him to be dropped. One man who reminded us of his quality in case Jose Mourinho was thinking of dropping Matic was Ander Herrera.

His performance yesterday was superb. His energy and ability to the read the game in order to intercept passes is terrier like. Not be underestimated as well is his shooting ability and with both feet.

Whether Matic is suffering from fatigue after playing almost every minute last campaign followed by a World Cup adventure with Serbia, he just seems to be off the pace, failing to track runners and leaving the defence exposed.

Therefore, I think it’s time Ander Herrera was given a run in the team by Mourinho and hopefully he can perform in a similar ilk to how he did in 2016/17 and give United a bit more defensive stability.
