Manchester United currently have five players on loan at clubs around Europe. We look at who has impressed so far this season and who will need to work harder if they want a chance to play for the first team.

Manchester United pride themselves with having one of the very best academies in Europe. Over the years, we’ve produced the likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham and now Marcus Rashford, just to name a few.

However, it doesn’t always work out for our aspiring youngsters, many of whom are released or sold to lesser clubs before they even have a chance to play for the first team. What’s more is that the ones that do remain at the club are loaned out constantly in order to prove their worth to the manager.

Although we wish United handed out more opportunities for first-team football to academy players, the reality is that the Premier League has become way too competitive in recent years, with many of the top clubs spending hundreds of millions of pounds each window to secure Europe’s best.
